In this third tale of the Baudelaire orphans they are sent to live with their Aunt Josephine. She is very nice but afraid of everything, including a door knob. She lives high above a cold dark lake on the side of a cliff. She tells the children there are leeches in the lake that killed her husband because he didn't wait long enough, after he ate, to go into the water and they could smell him. Although their aunt is a little strange and has an obsession with grammer she treats them well until they come upon Captain Sham. The children know this is Count Olaf again. He can't fool the children. Again he tries to get custody of the children with another elaborate plan so he can steal their fortune.
Artist Bio: Lemony Snicket is the pseudonym novelist Daniel Handler uses for his series of darkly comic children's books known as A Series of Unfortunate Events.
